In 2004 and 2005, Bill Goins broke 10:00 at Ironman Florida. (Not bad for a 45+ year old Clydesdale, huh?) He made his first trip to Kona this weekend, and while the conditions slowed everyone, and a gut full of saltwater left him hurling throughout the entire ride and run, Bill still toughed it out. Some days you’re the windshield and some days you’re the bug, and Bill proved that you can come up big even on a day when you’re not at the top of your game.

Great job by Dan Hopard at the Niagara Falls Marathon. After several frustrating attempts to break 4:00, Dan hit the track with us this season and ran 3:51:29 this year. Most impressively, Dan ran 1:58 for the first half and then a significantly negative split for the 2nd half, complete with his fastest mile of the day (7:59) at mile 26.

Today’s sign if the apocalypse is brought to courtesy of our friends at NYRR. 13.1 miles at Greta’s Gallop whilst running with an umbrella.

Another race, another trophy. Leanne Elisha 10th overall and 2nd in her AG at the Bassman tri this weekend. (This despite her tactical error of running into a fire whilst on duty this week and filling her lungs with smoke.) Johanna and Anne (making her multisport debut) racing a duathlon this weekend, Bill off to Kona, and then it’s marathon, off-season time for us all.
