Fine work by the gang at yesterday’s Peter Rabbit XC run. Geoff placed 4th overall, Yvonne was 3rd among the women, and Luis was 15th. Geoff points out "Yvonne came in 3rd because at the finish she chose not to pass the 14 year old high school cross country girl that was about 3 strides in front of her. She graciously gave her 2nd rather than crush her at the line in front of her watching family." Personally, I’d have passed the kid, slowing only long enough to tell her that there’s no Santa Claus.
The event was billed as a 3-miler but at the race it was announced that the actual distance was closer to 3.5 miles. That transgression pales in comparison to the typo on the medal which referenced the "PETER RABIT" race. (Click on the photo to enlarge.) Lucky for the Brooklyn Road Runners Club, the judge who penalized a lawyer for his typographical errors wasn’t at the race.
