DN-F that!

Picture 2 As my friend NSQ always says, "when you put on a race number, you sure as [heck] better race your [buttocks] off" (or something like that). To Ms. SQ, there isn't an excuse good enough to justify not leaving everything on the course (see: NYRR Sprint Tri where she crashed hard on her bike, only to get right back up ...

Mortonsneuroma_01"I'm not a doctor, but I play one on t.v."

When my students ask what I did this summer, I will ask that they refer to me as Dr. Sin Quee rather than Ms. Sin Quee. See, I earned my medical degree on the web and managed my first successful diagnosis. I know everyone is an internet doctor these days, but can all those charlatans ...

They Don’t Swim Either

Vacation10-2 030 In case anyone was considering getting a Boston Terrier as a training partner, I would like to caution you.  While two Boston Terriers (you know I got another one) may not represent the entire breed, I found while on vacation this past week that my dogs do not run more than a half mile. This week I also learned, after spending ...

Who’s Watching You?

Uncle_sam_watching_you-1 “Who’s watching?

Tell me who’s watching.

Who’s watching me?

I’m just an average man with an average life.

I work from 9 to 5; Hell I pay the price…” Rockwell

I haven’t raced in a couple weeks, but as I gear up for my next race, I started to think about my last race in Central Park and the celebrity aspect of racing. I was coming up Harlem hill dry-heaving, ...

I would like to begin this post by saying that iPods do not belong in races.  Clearly they enhance performance OR encourage people to run slower.  The first case makes it an unfair race and the second makes the race cost more.  I also, personally, do not run outdoors with an iPod because if someone ever stole me the papers would say 'Well, she was stupid enough to be wearing an iPod so she couldn't hear ...

My 2010 Season – Tiiiimmmmmbbbbeeerrrrrrr……………….

Posted by:

I have collected my second IronTeam shirt of the season and I'm home from New Hampshire.  I think I had two volunteering AG wins this year – one at Lake Placid and the second one at Timberman.  It helps when the majority of the volunteer field is 60+.  That's where the real competition is.  I really enjoy volunteering at IM events.  However, that joy ...

Track is Not Whack

Posted by:

I am no expert on this, but considering how I went from wanting to crap in my pants to nailing each of my track workouts, I thought I'd share my thoughts on how to get through them:

The workout starts before you step on the track. Give yourself ample time to digest your food. Many a workout has been aborted because of GI distress. Foods to avoid 30 minutes before the track. You'd think it obvious, but it took me a ...

Maybe It Was a Lovers’ Quarrel

Posted by:

A while back we told you of a lonely gentleman in Scotland who was arrested for having sex with his bicycle. While that may remain the most bizarre human-bicycle interaction, we do have another contender. Today we read of a fine, upstanding Floridian who was arrested for arguing with his bike after a long day of drinking. According to the arrest affidavit, "Customers were coming to the Mobil and were very disturbed as to the yelling and obscene ...
