Anna Bretan is pictured here with her 6-week old daughter. Minutes after this photo was taken, she passed the baby off (presumably to her husband and her two other children) and proceeded to win the Oakland Marathon in a rather swift time of 2:57:33.
I’m married to a woman who was back at her pre-pregnancy weight within 3-4 weeks after having the baby, so I’m not easy to impress. But Ms. Bretan has managed to wow me.
And the next time I think Simon is keeping me too busy to train, I’ll remember this.

Every year, one of my favorite training programs is our JackRabbit track program in Red Hook. It’s a great way to improve your speed and form, and I get to harrass you along the way.
We run on Tuesdays at 6:45p from April 24-June 26, then take a break and start another ten week session. If you’re training for triathlons, or anything from 5k to marathon distance running races, we can help. Registration is through the JackRabbit website.

2012 will be Terry Moore’s fourth season with City Coach. In that time he has had some impressive race results, and has also been a big part of our Race Across the Window charity event. And, much to my chagrin, he’s the best drummer on the team.

HAHAHA those jokes are my favorite.
Anyway…I’ve decided to dust the ol cobwebs off my blog, and post about something that for once isn’t about me (well, kinda), and instead about YOU!
Last July I bought a commuter bike. It was killing me that I was spending over an hour a day on a subway. I had a brief stint as a bike commuter a few years ago on Green Light’s infamous Steed (R.I.P.). But when I moved apartments, the Steed did not come with me, so it was back to the subway and $72, then $89, then $104 a month for a Metrocard. I knew that commuting via bicycle would not only save me money in the long run, but even more importantly it would make me a stronger cyclist.
