Over a decade ago, my friend Christopher Bergland and I formed City Coach. I began coaching Christopher in 1989, and he went on to become one of the most accomplished ultra endurance athletes in the world. He won a Triple Ironman three times. He had a top-5 finish at Badwater. He set a world record by running 153.76 miles on a treadmill in 24-hours. And by the way, he’s gay.

Over a week has passed since the tragedy at the Boston Marathon. And while events like that put things in perspective and remind us that now matter how seriously we take racing, it’s not really that important, our athletes’ efforts still deserve recognition. Brooklyn Duathlon Race Report

The Brooklyn Duathlon has traditionally been our season opening multisport race, and it has often been good to us. Today was no different. In the women’s race, Nicole Sin Quee was the returning champion, and defended her title in a time of 56:06, and Jessica Purcell had a strong second run to finish second overall in 59:25.

Red Hook Crit Race Results

The Red Hook Crit 5k was held Saturday night on a flat, fast course, with a pile of cash money for the winner. As such, some heavy hitters came out to play. City Coach was well represented, with Bonnie Averbuch running a PR of 19:08 in the women’s race, and Luke McCambley and Matt Duelka running 16:04 and 17:15 respectively in the men’s race.
