Hamptons Marathon/Half Marathon Race Report

According to the City Coach Historian, Kevin Starkes set the CCMS marathon record back in 2008 with a 2:39:11 in New York. Kevin's record held up until yesterday, when it was broken by.....Kevin Starkes. Kevin ran 2:38:24 on his was to winning the Hamptons Marathon. He ran a remarkable smart race despite running alone from miles 13-25. Kevin came through the halfway mark at 1:19:24, at which point Dashing Whippets' Jeremy Adler held a ten second lead. Kevin stayed calm even when he was a few hundred meters behind, and when he passed Mr. Adler at mile 25, he did so convincingly. In other marathon news, City Coach's Mark Pfeffer made his marathon debut in an impressive 3:30:57. Mark was raising money for the  Somaly Mam Foundation, and to date has gotten over $1,000 in contributions.

We were well represented in the Half Marathon as well, with Matt Duelka finishing 6th overall and 3rd in his age group with a 1:20:47. And let's not forget Run for the Rabbit's Ali Feller, who returned to the scene of the crime, with a 1:47:41.

Congratulations all around.
